UKLGIG, the leading UK charity dedicated to providing support to vulnerable LGBTQI+ people who are seeking asylum in the UK, is recruiting for a new role to support its growing team.
The Team Assistant (part-time) will help ensure that our services run smoothly and develop and implement systems for responding to client enquiries and needs. You will be a first point of contact for vulnerable LGBTQI+ people and play a key role in providing the information they need. You will provide admin support to the whole UKLGIG team, including on communications and fundraising, and organise small events.
UKLGIG has been supporting LGBTQI+ people through the asylum and immigration system and campaigning for their rights since 1993. In this role, you will gain insight into all aspects of our work, from service delivery to policy. You will have a varied workload from liaising with clients, assisting with communications and organising fundraising events.
- Answer calls and emails and prioritise queries for responses
- Give accurate information on the asylum system and UKLGIG services
- Organise monthly meetings on making asylum and partnership applications
- Organise ad-hoc fundraising events
- Monitor developments in parliament related to the asylum system.

Owing to the nature of the work with vulnerable adults, the successful applicant will be required to undergo a basic DBS check and to disclose all non-protected criminal records at the point of conditional job offer.
CONTRACT TYPE: Permanent
HOURS: 21 hours per week. Work one evening a month is required, and possibly at weekends but with plenty of notice.
STARTING SALARY: £11,797 – £12,515 (£19,661 – £20,858 pro rata), plus statutory employer’s pension contribution.
LOCATION: The role is based in our offices in Southwark, London. There might be occasional travel outside London with plenty of notice.
ANNUAL LEAVE: 25 days per year pro rata rising after 24 months by 1 day after each year of service to maximum of 28 days per year.
