The support of lesbian & gay asylum seekers, against the
background of the current attitudes (and inconsistency) of the UK
government is an enormous challenge. UKLGIG has dealt with close to
400 individual asylum seekers since the asylum support project began
and has been involved in almost all of the high profile cases in the
last 3 years.
Our approach has been to work to change the system where we see injustice by raising
awareness and challenging in the courts.
We do not publicly campaign for individual asylum seekers, but always
have in our minds the need to improve the prospects for all those
who come to us for help.
We are always grateful and proud when this work is recognised
within our community.
